Make a small loop at the end of the thread by laping long thread over the short end

Catch the loop between your thumb and fore finger
 Insert the hook  in the loop you made in the previous step.
Catch the  long thread with the hook( to be able to do so you should keep the open part of the hook tip  facing you) then draw the hook back through the loop. Now congratulations .You've made your first stitch 
  With the stitch still on the hook. Pull the short end of the thread down to let the stitch take its size.
 Please be patient and if you didn't manage to do this stitch , repeat it again. I'm sure you'll make it .

Now we come to the chain stitch.
 It's so easy to do and so beautiful. Once you make a number of it, you feel you should fasten it around your neck or wrist.
 It's the base for all crocheted items. No crochet project can start without it.
